Backgroundinformation
To mark 500 years of Papal Swiss Guards in Rome, former guards will follow the route that their 150 comrades followed when leaving Switzerland and moving to Rome in the winter 1505-1506 on this memorial march in spring 2006. They will begin on 7 April in Bellinzona, march the entire 720-kilometer route, and arrive in Rome on 4 May.
