Backgroundinformation
We will begin the first day with a celebration in Bellinzona, the old "Gate to the South.? We march through the Maggadino Valley to Magadino on Lago Maggiore. By lake steamer, we continue south across the border to Italy. Our goal is Ispra, where we set foot on Italian soil in Lombardy. The entire distance is 56 km; we will march 16 km (90% gravel paths and field trails, 10% pavement).
