The importance of this city as a station along the pilgrim?s way in the Middle Ages was so great, that the city gates were kept open continuously, even during times of the plague or war. And it was just in this pilgrimage city that our first 150 comrades received another money transfer from the Pope (200 ducats) at the at the branch office of the Fugger Bank in mid-February 1506. This is reason enough for a festive reception.
