Stage 25: La Madonella - Monterosi (01.05.2006)

Backgroundinformation
The second-to-the-last march day takes us from La Madonella to Monterosi. On the Via Cassia, we pass through Sutri, a picturesque city on rocky tuff hills. This was usually the last station for pilgrims on their way to Rome from the north in the Middle Ages. We pass an exceptional building: the Church of Santa Maria del Parto was originally an subterranean Etruscan grave built into the tuff. Length of this stage: 29 km (60% gravel, field and forest paths, 40% pavement).
