Backgroundinformation
Today we march across the plains to the Po River, cross the stream, leave Lombardy and enter the Emilia-Romagna region. In this area, we come to the Via Francigena, the medieval Franken Way, which we will follow to Rome. We arrive near the city of Piacenza. Stage distance: 29 (40% gravel paths, 60% pavement) or 36 km (30% gravel paths, 70% pavement), depending on where we cross the Po River.
