Backgroundinformation
We start south of the city of Piacenza and march to Fidenza. The Via Francigena follows the old Roman Via Emilia here. Because of modern traffic, we take smaller roads nearby. The stage ends in the old cosmopolitan pilgrim?s city of Fidenza, today the Italian seat of the Associazione europea dei comuni sulla Via Francigena (European Association of Via Francigena Communities). Another celebration will therefore take place here. Stage distance: 35 km (20% gravel paths, 80% pavement)
